Kichakeswari Temple
Kichakeswari Temple is placed in Bahalda, the capital of Mayurbhanj kingdom in the 14th century. It lies at a distance of 97 km from Baripada and 57 km from TataNagar. Dedicated to Goddess Kichakeswari, the temple is known for its architectural beauty.
This famous temple of Bahalda is known as Kichakeswari Mandir (English: Temple). Devotees residing in Bahalda , Rairangpur and around often visit this temple and offer their prayers. Everyday, Poojas are performed twice. Several special poojas are performed which attract a great number of people.
Bahalda, in its earlier phases as pilgrimage center in Bahalda, was famous for the Kichakeswari Mandir, a place of Kichakeswari Maa worship. In the later phases it developed into a Kichakeswari Maa center with the growing fame of Kichakeswari Maa, which was built in 1772 A.D. Today this place is known not only as a pilgrimage center but also a trading center where one can get the articles related to puja, and other rituals. |
